EDUCATION - Nothing is more important to the future. It represents the cornerstone of our potential prosperity. We owe it to our children to give them every opportunity to succeed. That’s not happening now.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY - Our state budget is out of control. Wasteful spending habits are costing taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. We must hold the line on taxes and rein in the wasteful spending that threatens the growth of our economy.
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION - I WILL NOT REST UNTIL WE STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IN SOUTH CAROLINA. While politicians are wasting time squabbling over petty details, I am ready to take action. Here is my Six Point Plan to combat illegal immigration in South Carolina:
- Pass an “E-verify System” requiring employers to check citizenship before hiring.
- Require state agencies to verify citizenship before providing public assistance.
- Deny state contracts and all tax credits to businesses that hire illegal immigrants.
- Make it a felony to knowingly harbor or transport illegal immigrants.
- Train law enforcement officers to deal with illegal immigration.
- Strengthen State law on identity theft — and enforce the law.
CONSERVATIVE GOVERNMENT - The role of government should be to do only those things we cannot do as individuals. In a free society, government should be our servant—not our master.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - I am committed to creating greater incentives for family friendly business and industry to locate inAbbeville, Greenwood and Laurens Counties. I’m also determined to strengthen our support for the health care sector. Nursing and research institutions are vital to the success of Self Regional, which is our largest employer.
OUR LAKES - I will fight to ensure the health of our water supply by preserving Lakes Greenwood, Russell and Secession. In the future, protecting our water and water rights will be a vital priority. And as an avid sportsman, I understand the importance of respecting nature and the significance of defending our Second Amendment rights.
SUPPORTS LIFE - I believe that every human being, old and young, born and unborn, inherits a set of basic human rights that cannot be violated. Therefore, in the Senate, I will vote to protect the sanctity of life.
JUDGES - I will only vote to approve strict constructionist judges. Judges should follow the law, not make it up as they go along.
